Networking is more than making connections, it’s about building them. For some, this will be easy and for others, it will not. Networking has taught us to learn to deliver a 30-second advertising pitch to describe what we offer. In some cases, this becomes repetitive and boring. For beginners, it is a challenge and for busier successful ones, this may not be worth their time. Here are some tips on networking.

  • For Beginners

Create five 30-second advertising pitches that describe your services. End your statement with 5 different statements that provide some information on a product or service you offer. For example Network Exchange offers a platform for small businesses to help them start on the marketing path. A second statement would be Network Exchange offers entrepreneurs an opportunity to exchange challenges or ideas to help them build their business, and so on.

Create a list of contacts that could be beneficial for your business and another list that could be beneficial for others. This can be favorable for you and for others when they need help. Having the ability to provide assistance will strengthen your relationships. Having to connect with someone without a purpose leaves people feeling out of place. Therefore, if you can find a place for them in your resourceful list of people, try to connect and become a resource to others. Establishing relationships is always a good way to be resourceful and be in the mind of others when they need your product or service.

Network at several groups or organizations and find people who can help you connect with others. Find those who will help your business expand and of course, those who can connect you to your clients. Start by asking how you would like to know more about them and their services, as well as asking if your product or service is needed in the world and explain how you contribute. Get to know others by getting feedback on your service or product.

For those with no time to network and establish connections I highly recommend you reconsider. Become a mentor to those around you and provide your expertise. Be a leader and continue to show up to support others.

Help them identify what sets you apart or what challenges you overcame. Become a center of your network and help others accomplish their goals. Create multidimensional connections and Keep your success thriving.

Be an interesting interactive book full of intrigue, experience, and knowledge. Your best connections are not always at the golf course, they are everywhere, and ensure you are the person most would like to know.

Networking has changed over the years and as time passes, some connections will fade and some will remain. Today it is important to establish long-term authentic relationships. Relationships with a greater value that offer common interests and are aligned with a greater purpose. Make your list of your core people and get to know them.
