How Effective Networking Begins

Effective networking begins with being knowledgeable about what your business offers and being prepared to expose your business with your community.

Having an elevator pitch ready to share at any network event is the second step in beginning this process.  This will prepare you to introduce your business to networking.  Keep in mind networking can beneficial and frustrating so, don’t be discouraged.

Some networking groups are based on having the exclusivity of one business per group. This can be favorable because it does not invite competition.

Other groups are built to exchange business information and very few create networking bonds.

Some groups try to turn them into a more social type of networking and again you find those only interested in how you can help them. In this type of groups, cooperation is invited, only when you have something to offer.

Depending on what your business is, it is necessary to choose your networking events and groups wisely.  At First, it’s best to join local groups and explore what is around your community before venturing out to bigger groups.  It’s best to experience the vibe around the areas that will be best for your business and evaluate its effectivness.  Establish a relationships with those interested in cooperating and motivated individuals who have a positive outlook. There is a saying out there “talent attracts talent”. Your networking peers will influence you on your implementation process. It’s wise to work with the wise. Therefore, create your network community with the people who have qualities that you can learn and enjoy with. such as, the marketing- problem-solver, the responsive- realtor, the connections- lender, the supportive- content creator, the mindful-spiritual teacher, the network exchange’s- guides, and so on.

In addition, networking also has it’s challenges and disappointments.  Therefore, effective networking is recommended.

Effective networking starts with:

  • The exposure of your business.
  • Sharing information locally and then expanding.
  • Finding one group you feel welcomed.

Creating a resources list that will help you be a liaison for others and continue the relationship with the contacts in your reference list.

Creating a list of the businesses that collaborate well with yours. Use team effort and encouragement practices. See the bigger picture of opportunities, support others in social media exposure, and always foster your connections.

This will complete your networking part of your small business and you can move on to learning or exposing your business through other marketing and advertising strategies.
